ive been pveing for a year now and im trying to move on to pvp. the pvp builds get complicated at times and i guess the big picture helps alot. i am currently suffering from rank discrimination atm being rank -0- . lol. but im not discouraged and i know i can play this game. this article is a must read for ppl in my situation who dont want to go in knowing nothing, and looking like it. i know im a pvp nub, but i also know whats going on that much more now. tyvm op.

I am speaking from my own experiences through GvG, but for myself, i have found that having the right connections can not only get you into rank three groups, but into rank 4,5,6,7,8+ groups. The reason i know this is because i have been participating in GvG for a little over a year now, and through the several guilds i have been a part of, have experienced, on many occasions, what it is like to be part of a top 100 team, and knowing these people can make suddenly make this "rank" issue dissapear. Ive found that pvp experience in general can help you bypass into rank 3+ teams. tell them you can play the position, and that you know what you are doing, and ask for a shot. if they refuse just walk away quietly thinking to yourself that they are the noob, not you.
basically what i am saying is that being successful in pvp is possible by two ways. 1) finding yourself some friends with connections (sounds bad but is good(for you)). 2) RA a bunch. do TA or AB. learn to play a specific, yet common, build to the best of your ability, then summon the courage to enter the Hero's Ascent.
Advertise yourself. say something like "Boon Prot LF Serious Group". dont say anything like "Exp" or "very good" these make you look desperate. Eventually someone will message you, or you will see an advertisment looking for what you can play. simply message the person and say "I am a so-and-so", or "looking for a so-and-so?" if they ask for a rank, its best to be truthfull. say something like "I am only rank 0,1,2, but i have been playing this build in RA, TA, and AB for some time, and i am sure i can be a benefit to your team."
i know this sounds corny, but trust me, it has worked on many occasions (i am only of 54 fame, but 13 months of top 100-200 gvg experience) I'd like to point out that it is important when they ask for a rank, to not just say "0" or "1", because many either impatient or eletist "noobs" out there will kick you on the spot, include your rank with a slight, brief resume of your experiences. eventually you will find a team, ranked or not, but as long as you are playing, you are getting better and eventually you will find friends who will look to you when they need a position to be filled.
